Haltwhistle businesses

Like so many other towns and villages around the Northumberland region the make-up of Haltwhistle businesses has changed dramatically over the years although the old Main Street has managed to maintain its original character and look. Haltwhistle businesses include newsagents, supermarkets, banks, pubs and clubs, hairdressers, general retail outlets, insurance companies and petrol stations to name but a few.

Even though there are many businesses in Haltwhistle which support the employment of local residents the town has a very unique location with Newcastle just over 30 miles away and Carlisle just over 20 miles away. Not only has this opened up a number of employment opportunities for the local residents of Haltwhistle but it has also allowed businesses in the region to benefit from their close proximity to these major cities.

Haltwhistle is also host to both a first school and a middle school that are now both located on the new “Haltwhistle campus” which is a relatively new introduction to the area. Football, cricket and rugby are just three sports which are very popular amongst Haltwhistle residents where there is a great deal of competition!

For a town of its size Haltwhistle offers a wide range of businesses, activities and places to visit, something which is becoming more apparent each year.
