Accommodation near Hadrians Wall

Over the last two years there has been a massive increase in the amount of accommodation near Hadrians Wall with Haltwhistle seen by many as a focal point for the Hadrian’s Wall walk which is attracting more and more tourists every year. There are bed-and-breakfasts, public houses and other accommodation facilities in and around Haltwhistle which are literally just a couple of miles from some of the more picturesque stages of the Roman Wall.

The Hadrian’s Wall walk stretches from the East Coast to the West Coast of the UK but by far and away the most picturesque areas and tourist centres are situated in and roundabout the Haltwhistle area. Hadrian’s Wall has to some extent become a large part of the local Haltwhistle community and economy with ever growing numbers of tourists from all around the world. While Haltwhistle was for many years a focal point for the smaller mining villages in the area, mining has reduced significantly over the last few years and ultimately tourism is now seen as the growth area.

While the Roman wall itself is obviously protected from wear and tear there are many Hadrians Wall walking guides and Hadrians Wall walking routes which take you through some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, where you feel literally hundreds of miles away from civilisation even though you only 2 miles from Haltwhistle, 35 miles from Newcastle and 21 miles from Carlisle!
